Zhonghengfeng publishes 2022-2023 operational carbon self-assessment

Correction, 23 October 2026: The source self-assessment contains internally inconsistent emissions calculations. Emissions totals, emissions intensities and comparisons between reporting years previously reproduced in this article have been removed and are withheld pending verified clarification. The original document remains linked below for historical reference; its disputed figures should not be relied upon.

Zhonghengfeng New Energy Steel Structure (Inner Mongolia) Co., Ltd. has published a company-authored greenhouse gas self-assessment covering operational emissions at its Baotou production site for 2022 and 2023. The report focuses on purchased electricity and natural-gas combustion within the factory boundary.

The self-assessment was prepared in February 2024 with reference to GB/T 32150-2015, the Chinese general standard for greenhouse gas accounting and reporting by industrial enterprises, and the applicable national accounting guidance for machinery-processing businesses.

Reporting boundary and calculation approach

The report’s organizational boundary is Zhonghengfeng’s site at No. 8 Guangyao Road in the Rare Earth High-Tech Industrial Development Zone of Baotou, Inner Mongolia. The business is identified as a metal structure manufacturer.

The self-assessment addresses indirect emissions associated with net purchased electricity and direct emissions from natural-gas combustion. Its stated scope is operational activity within the factory boundary, not a full product lifecycle assessment, an environmental product declaration or a project-specific carbon footprint. Upstream steel production, raw-material transport, customer construction activity, the use phase and end-of-life treatment are outside that operational scope.

The source sets out calculation methods based on electricity use and on natural-gas consumption, heating value, carbon content and oxidation rate. Because its numerical inputs and reported results do not reconcile, the resulting emissions figures are withheld from this article pending verified clarification.

Historical operating records

The self-assessment includes separate records for 2022 and 2023 covering purchased electricity, natural-gas use and steel structure output. Those records are part of the original document, but they do not resolve the inconsistencies in its emissions calculations.

This article therefore does not reproduce emissions totals, per-tonne emissions intensities or percentage comparisons between the two years. No replacement figures or verified reduction claims are presented.

Using the data responsibly

This publication is a company self-assessment rather than an independent verification statement. The cover and calculation tables identify the reporting years as 2022 and 2023, while the introductory text refers to 2021 and 2022. This article retains the historical document’s identity and stated operational scope without endorsing its disputed calculation results. The document should not be used as evidence of a verified emissions reduction or compared directly with lifecycle carbon footprints or EPD figures.
